Maksim Oreshkin became Young Global Leader 2017


Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maksim Oreshkin was selected into the Young Global Leaders Class of 2017 launched by the World Economic Forum.

Each year the World Economic Forum selects 100 young leaders, under the age of 40, who are tackling the world’s most complex challenges with innovative approaches. Young Global Leaders are nominated by alumni to serve six-year terms.

Selected this year’s class of 100 Young Global Leaders is split evenly between business and not-for-profit sectors.

Among current and former YGLs are heads of government and Fortune 500 companies, winners of Olympic medals and Academy Awards, and people who have overcome towering adversity to positively change the world we live in. There were over 5000 candidates this year.

Since 2004 YGL Class has included more than 1000 honorees. Every year Young Global Leaders participate in the Annual Meeting of the New Champions to discuss global prospects and politico-social problems.

This year Ekaterina Bereziy, founder and chief executive officer of Russian company «Exoatlet», was also selected into YGL Class. She is changing the lives of those with spinal cord injuries with her robotics company that uses cutting edge exoskeletons to enable people to walk again.

Earlier Russian deputy Minister of Economic Development Stanislav Voskresensky was included in YGL Class.
