Minister Elvira Nabiullina and Commerce Minister Chen Deming held the 13th meeting of the Russian-Chinese Sub-Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Russian-Chinese Commission for the preparation of regular meetings of heads of governments of Russia and China
20.08.10On August 20, 2010 in the Russian Economic Development Ministry the 13th meeting of the Russian-Chinese Sub-Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Russian-Chinese Commission for the preparation of regular meetings of heads of governments of Russia and China was held under the chairmanship of the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Elvira Nabiullina and Minister of Commerce of China Chen Deming .
At the meeting the sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues of bilateral trade and economic ties. The parties noted that Russian-Chinese trade after a period of decline caused by the international financial crisis has entered into a period of active recovery growth and has almost reached the pre-crisis level.
Elvira Nabiullina and Chen Deming expressed their intention to continue to take agreed steps to maintain the high dynamics of trade, improving the structure of mutual trade and, above all, increase the volume of mutual supplies of machinery and high technology products.
During the meeting, the Sub-Commission discussed the strengthening and deepening of mutual investment cooperation in various fields and the status of implementation of large joint investment projects. The Russian side informed about the measures it has taken to improve the investment climate, the steps for a more complete exposing of the investment potential of Russian regions and attraction of the foreign investment in special economic zones.
The sides also discussed cooperation in such areas of work as near-border zone trade and interregional trade and economic relations; joint development and use of forest resources, including the establishment of production facilities for in-depth wood processing in the Russian territory, the conditions of access to markets for goods in mutual trade, the creation of an enabling environment for agricultural goods trade, protection of intellectual property and the like.
Following the meeting of the Sub-Commission a Protocol was signed, as well as a ceremony of signing of several agreements and contracts between Russian and Chinese companies in the investment field was held.
The event was attended by G. Sarishvili, the Director of Department of Asian and African countries, D. Levchenkov, the Director of Department of Special Economic Zones and Project Financing, S. Tsyplakov, the Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the People's Republic of China, representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Industry and Trade of Russia and the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC, as well as representatives of Russian and Chinese companies and business associations.
