Leaders of the APEC Forum Economies to Meet on September 2-9, 2012
During the week as of September 2 through September 9, 2012 there will be meetings of leaders of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economies held on the Russky Island in Vladivostok, which week will close the year of the Russian Federation chairmanship in the APEC forum.
During this week APEC leaders will hold a number of official meetings and conferences:
- Closing meeting of senior officials of APEC, September 2-3, 2012;
- Joint meeting of ministers of foreign affairs and trade of APEC, September 5-6, 2012;
- Conference of the Business Consulting Council (BCC) of APEC, September 4-6, 2012;
- Business summit of APEC, September 7-8, 2012;
- Meeting of leaders of APEC economies with APEC BCC, September 7-8, 2012;
- 24th meeting of leaders of APEC economies, September 8-9, 2012
The motto of the event will be “Integration for Growth. Innovations for Prosperity” and the main attention will be paid to priorities of the Russia’s chairmanship in APEC during 2012: trade and investment liberalization, regional economic integration, formation of reliable transport and logistics chains and ensuring of innovative growth. When defining its priority lines of activity, Russia has managed to preserve continuity of the forum work, touching the most pressing particular problems important for the current stage of the APEC development that are being resolved by leaders of the region’s economies.
The result of the week forum work will be presented in the form of declarations by leaders of APEC economies, as well as ministers of foreign affairs and trade of APEC, which declarations will specify a number of particular measures and instructions on the further work of the forum aimed at attainment of the Bogor goals.
The official delegation of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia will be headed by the Minister A.R. Belousov. In the events to be held during the week, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia will be also represented by the Director of the Department of Asian and African Countries S.V. Chernyshev, Acting Director of the Department of American Countries G.I. Kurochkina, Deputy Director of the Department of Asian and African Countries N.N. Strigunova, Deputy Director of the Department for Trade Negotiations V.I. Tkachenko, Deputy Director of the Department for Development and Governance of Foreign Economic Relations E.V. Stoyanova.
