State Secretary - Deputy Minister I.E. Manylov met a delegation of NAVTEQ
On January 27, 2011 in the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, a working meeting of State Secretary - Deputy Minister I.E. Manylov and representatives of NAVTEQ took place.
The delegation of NAVTEQ (a leading global company in the field of creation and provision of navigational information to consumers) was headed by President and General Manager Lawrence M. Kaplan.
The meeting participants exchanged views on topical issues related to the improvement of navigation services market in Russia, and also discussed the prospects for its development. NAVTEQ representatives expressed their willingness to share experience gained in this field, including using innovative technologies for creating three-dimensional maps, navigational road maps, and training. The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia noted the important role of NAVTEQ in the market of navigation services in Russia.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of Russian State Register and Navigation and Information Systems OJSC.
NAVTEQ was founded in 1985 in Silicon Valley, California, USA. Initially, NAVTEQ was focused on the creation and provision of navigational information to consumers. In 1991, NAVTEQ has established its first European centre in Netherlands. In 1996 the company opened an office in Yokohama, Japan. In 2004, NAVTEQ has become a public company and in 2008 was acquired by Nokia.
NAVTEQ is operating as a subsidiary of Nokia, having HQ in Chicago, Illinois, USA, and regional headquarters in the Netherlands and Singapore. NAVTEQ owns and manages manufacturing centres (Fargo, North Dakota, USA; Leon, Mexico; Veldhoven, the Netherlands and Mumbai, India) and is represented by 212 offices in 48 countries.
