Minister Elvira Nabiullina met P. Lellouche, Secretary of State of Foreign Trade of France under the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry of France
On February 1, 2011 Minister Elvira Nabiullina met P. Lellouche, Secretary of State of Foreign Trade of France under the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry of France, at the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia.
During the meeting the parties exchanged views on major issues of trade and economic cooperation between France and Russia. The parties emphasized the importance of Cross Year of Russia and France in 2010, and its positive impact on the entire range of bilateral relations, including economic and trade cooperation.
Noting the positive results of the development of mutual trade relations in recent time, the participants expressed hope that the trend of growth of turnover and investment cooperation will continue in the current year despite the global financial and economic crisis.
The parties agreed that it was necessary to improve the existing financial infrastructure, and develop public-private partnership, a system of cross-investment in important areas of cooperation such as energy, aviation, automotive industry, shipbuilding, metallurgy, transport and so on to further development of economic and trade Russian-French cooperation.
Elvira Nabiullina said that it was important not only to support the existing projects, but also to find new niches for cooperation, and to seek to establish joint projects, products of which could be sold on the markets of the Third Countries. In current conditions Elvira Nabiullina noted, the issue of volatility in world prices for oil, metals, grain and other goods is a problem for Russia, not only for consumers but for producers also.
P. Lellouche, Secretary of State confirmed support from the French party for the early accession of Russia to the WTO. He also said that in 2011, the year of the French presidency in the G8 and G20, France aims to inspire the process of modernization of the global financial system.
The parties expressed particular interest in the expansion of cooperation in high technology industries in small and medium businesses.
The meeting was also attended by Jacques de Gliniasti, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic in the Russian Federation, Yu.P. Stetsenko, Director of Europe Department, A.K. Uvarov, Director of the Department of Property Relations.
