Minister Elvira Nabiullina participated in a meeting of economic ministers of the CIS

On September 16, 2010, Minister ES Nabiullina participated in a meeting of the economic ministers of CIS member states on the draft Treaty of Free Trade Zone that was held in the Russian Ministry of Economic Development.

During the meeting, held in advance of the meeting of the Economic Council of CIS, a broad consensus among the delegations was reached on the issue of a new Treaty on the free trade zone replacing the current operating agreements between CIS member countries, both bilateral and multilateral.

It was noted that in the new treaty the gaps of existing legal framework were filled and significant improvement was provided in its tools of trade policy. Also, of crucial importance is agreement on the formation of an independent dispute resolution procedure.

The participants of the meeting confirmed that at the expert level the document was virtually agreed upon; however, a number of issues requiring a political solution were left open.

The meeting was attended by the following: S. Lebedev, the Chairman of the Executive Committee - CIS Executive Secretary; V. Tsushko, the Minister of Economy of Ukraine; N. Yeritsyan, the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia; A. Evdochenko, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus; T. Suleimenov, the Vice Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan; N. Safarov, the Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Azerbaijan Republic; S. Mamatov, the Deputy Minister of Economic Regulation of the Kyrgyz Republic; O. Kalmyk, the Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Moldova; representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry and representatives of economic agencies and trade representatives of countries - members of CIS;

In addition, the following participated on the part of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia: A. Slepnev, the Deputy Economic Development Minister; M. Medvedkov, the director of the Department of Trade Negotiations; and S. Chernyshev, the Director of Economic Cooperation with CIS countries.
