February 23-26th 2014 Minister Alexey Ulyukaev makes an official visit to the United States of America (Washington D.C.)
In recent years the United States of America have consistently been one of the top ten business partners of Russia, which is determined by the U.S. role in the world economy and trade and the scale of the American scientific, technical, managerial, financial and investment input. Important strategic objective of the cooperation with the United States of America is to maximize the capacity of economic relations in different fields and areas. In addition, communication on bilateral economic relations at various levels has become much more intense in recent years. Existing potential for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation creates good preconditions for establishing a large-scale Russian-US economic partnership. This potential is supported by a commonness of many socio-economic objectives that our countries face, as well as Russia's membership in the WTO and the forthcoming accession of our country to the OECD.
The meeting of the Working Group on Business Development and Economic Relations under the Russian-American Presidential Commission will take place during Minister Ulyukaev’s visit. The Working Group is co-chaired by Minister Ulyukaev and the U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker. The agenda of the meeting consists of issues on bilateral trade and economic cooperation, including investment projects in the Russian regions and sectors with high growth potential, development of small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as cooperation between financial institutions.
Minister Ulyukaev will visit the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and meet with the representatives of the U.S. business community and media to discuss issues related to the development of the Russian economy, status and prospects of the bilateral trade and economic cooperation, as well as opportunities for the American companies doing business in Russia, including the sphere of single industry cities’ development.
On the February 24th Minister Ulyukaev will be giving a lecture to the academic community at Georgetown University entitled "A look at the prospects of the business and socio-economic development of Russia".
